5. A Grievance after Employment

What should you do if you receive a written grievance from an ex-employee? Grievances could be received from employees after they have left your employment.

They could be for any number of reasons, from a fairly straight forward grievance that they have not been paid correctly, to an allegation of bullying or discrimination that led to their resignation. Do you need to hear the grievance? Unlike grievances that are raised by existing employees, you are under no legal obligation to formally investigate any grievances made after employment has ended i.e. your grievance procedure is not intended to apply to formal employees.
