1. Employment Status
Why is Employment Status important?
Employment status is important as it will determine which employment rights an individual is entitled to and therefore what procedures may need to be followed in any situation. It also determines who should be issued with a contract of employment (as opposed to a contract for services or 'casual' agreement). When deciding on what resources you need, you need to be clear about employment status and how you intend to engage someone.
There are different defined groups which need to be understood. These will generally be included under one of the following 3 headings: An Employee:
This is someone who works under a
contract of employment. Employees will be entitled to all 'employee' rights.
